As the next step for those who have completed the FREC 3 course, this qualification provides Learners with a wider scope of practice in Prehospital care emergencies, allowing for greater employment opportunities such as Emergency Care Assistant within the private and NHS ambulance sector. It is also ideal for those who are looking to work within specialist roles, such as;
• Event first aiders
• Fire fighters
• Police fire arms and medics
• Close protection operative: this qualification is recognised by the Security Industries Authority (SIA)
• Expedition Leaders UK and overseas
• Journalists working overseas
• Researchers working overseas
• Film Crews working in remote areas
• Aid workers in hostile or disaster prone countries
• Community Responders in the UK
• High risk work environments in the UK and overseas
• Offshore workers
Students must hold an in-date QA Level 3 First Response Emergency Care Level 3 qualification or a QA recognised equivalent and be over 18 at the start of the course.
Delegates will be issued a certificate of qualification which is valid indefinitely where the holder maintains a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) and attends annual refresher training such as Immediate Life Support (ILS), otherwise the certificate is valid for one year.
The QA Level 4 First Response Emergency Care Course builds upon those skills learned in the FREC 3 programme and includes subjects such as more in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the heart and respiratory system, ECG monitoring and rhythm recognition, use of supraglottic airway devices. There is ample on street parking nearby, but delegates are encouraged to cycle, use public transport or car share where possible. Please follow government guidance on transport during COVID-19 control measures.

By foot – We are based just under a mile from Stockton High Street (approx 15 minutes’ walk).
By public transport – Stockton High Street is well served by busses. Stockton Railway Station and Thornaby Railway Station are both approximately 1 mile from the venue.
By bike – We are just off the National Cycle Network Routes 1 and 14.
There are a range of accommodations to suit every budget. These are two hotels within a short journey that we can recommend.

Stationary, tablets or laptops for note-taking and reference during lessons. All other equipment will be provided.
Due to the practical nature of the course, including simulation and use of simulated blood, students are encouraged to wear robust clothing, including sturdy footwear. Some simulations may take place outdoors and therefore warm/waterproof clothing should be brought where appropriate.
Students will receive textbooks prior to the course for use for the duration of the programme. These must be returned in good condition on conclusion of the course or purchase can be arranged. Workbooks will also be provided.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the course. Food storage, refrigeration and microwaves are available for lunch preparation during the course. There are a number of shops within a few minutes’ drive of the venue.
CIPHER Medical has risked assessed and taken appropriate measures recommended by the UK Government to ensure the safety of delegates and staff taking part in essential face-to-face training, including the provision of appropriate sanitisation facilities and PPE.
Delegates are encouraged to bring a face covering, however, if you forget we will provide you with one.
Courses will go ahead subject to any restrictions imposed by the UK Government, including local lockdowns or changes in legislation. CIPHER Medical will do our utmost to provide reasonable notice to all delegates, however, restrictions could be imposed at any time and are beyond our control. Course fees will be refunded for any course cancelled due to COVID-19.
