MIMMS Course Overview

The aim is to develop an understanding of the structured response to an incident using the systematic ‘all hazards’ approach of Command, Control, Safety, Communication, Assessment, Triage, Treatment and Transport, bronze, silver and gold levels of command and the activities within the inner and outer cordons.

Entry Requirements for the MIMMS Course

Learners must:

Be from a medical, nursing, or paramedic background.

MIMMS Certification

Upon successful completion of the written and practical assessments the following certificates will be awarded:

  •  ALSG MIMMS Certificate.

 

MIMMS Course Content

The programme includes but is not limited to the following subjects:

7 e-module topics

• Introduction

• Preparation

• Planning

• The incident

• Special circumstances

• Post incident actions

• Knowledge check

2-day face-to-face course Lectures

• Introduction

• Command, control and coordination

• Assessment

• Triage

Workshops

• Command, control and coordination

• Safety

• Communication including radio procedures

Tabletop exercises and practical exercises without casualties (PEWCS)

Parking

Under new heading Parking to all courses add “There is limited parking on site due to 24 hour operational staff use. There is ample on street parking nearby, but delegates are encouraged to cycle, use public transport or car share where possible. Please follow government guidance on transport during COVID-19 control measures.

By car – The address and postcode is CIPHER Medical, 5 Limeoak Way, Stockton on Tees, TS18 2LS.

By foot – We are based just under a mile from Stockton High Street (approx 15 minutes’ walk).

By public transport – Stockton High Street is well served by busses. Stockton Railway Station and Thornaby Railway Station are both approximately 1 mile from the venue. 

By bike – We are just off the National Cycle Network Routes 1 and 14.

Dress Code

Sensible outdoor clothing with suitable footwear should be worn.

Pre Course Reading / Learning

Students must complete the pre course learning, this will be available prior to course start date.

Refreshments

You will need to arrange your own lunch. You are welcome to
bring a packed lunch.

CIPHER Medical has risked assessed and taken appropriate measures recommended by the UK Government to ensure the safety of delegates and staff taking part in essential face-to-face training, including the provision of appropriate sanitisation facilities and PPE. 

Delegates are encouraged to bring a face covering, however, if you forget we will provide you with one. 

Courses will go ahead subject to any restrictions imposed by the UK Government, including local lockdowns or changes in legislation. CIPHER Medical will do our utmost to provide reasonable notice to all delegates, however, restrictions could be imposed at any time and are beyond our control. Course fees will be refunded for any course cancelled due to COVID-19.
