CIPHER Medical have launched a new expert physio service from their Stockton headquarters with the help of professional basketball player Theo Turner who stands at a giant 7 feet tall.

Mark Nevison, head of clinical services and Emily James, who heads the physiotherapy department at CIPHER medical welcomed 28 year old Theo Turner and 10 year old Theo Thomson from Teesside Lions basketball club to have an assessment and treatment session at the dedicated physio clinic within the state of the art training facility just off Portrack lane in Stockton on Tees.

In addition to her physiotherapy degree, Emily is a paramedic and has a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. She is also an independent prescriber, providing a comprehensive wealth of ability and experience in assessment, treatment and advice.

Emily has a wide range of physio experience with a particular interest in musculoskeletal physio. This involves assessment and treatment of people who have any injury, disease or problem that relates to muscles, bones, joints and peripheral nerves.

Emily has worked with CIPHER for 5 years and is excited about the new physiotherapy service, stating:

“Physiotherapy at its core is maximising people’s ability to move and function. I take great pride and satisfaction in being able to support people in terms of restoring health and helping people back to their best.”

CIPHER are most commonly known for their ambulance service which supports the NHS and events based industry.

Andy Thomas, CEO of CIPHER medical believes swift access to physiotherapy can have a dramatic positive effect on both patient welfare and spiralling costs associated with long term health problems.

Andy, who is also a consultant paramedic, said:

“Physiotherapy is often the bridge to recovery. Whether following an injury, clinical procedure or a newly developed ache, the quicker it is assessed and treated, the quicker most people will return to normality. The power of physio can therefore reduce the long term health problems that often occur and lead to significant savings in healthcare costs.

“As a physio service we assess and treat all issues both big and small. This was epitomised with the visit of Theo and Theo. Professional athletes and amateur sports enthusiasts alike will often require swift access to physio services to ensure an acute problem does not become a chronic one. They want to be back on the court, or field as quickly as possible.

“This is just as true for everyday people and we are pleased to provide not only an experienced, expert led service but also swift access to it.”
